Dietary Fiber from Plant-Based Food Wastes: A Comprehensive Approach to Cereal, Fruit, and Vegetable Waste Valorization
نویسندگان
چکیده
The agri-food industry generates significant quantities of plant-based food waste from processing, which offers a valuable research opportunity aimed at minimizing and managing these wastes efficiently in support zero and/or circular economies. In order to achieve security, all can be valorized using downstream processes an integrated manner, results the conversion into secondary raw materials. Specifically, byproducts are recognized sources bioactive chemicals, including dietary fibers that beneficial as additives or functional ingredients meet technological requirements health-promoting value-added products. Additionally, cellulosic utilized directly within nonfood industries, such textiles, resulting reduction environmental impact materials, well increase market acceptance compared those currently on market. On this basis, present review was designed provide overview introducing novel concepts for effective reuse, recyclability, maximal utilization food-processing creates potential extraction fiber with applications industries.

Cereal, fruit, and vegetable fiber intake and the risk of cardiovascular disease in elderly individuals.
CONTEXT People older than 65 years are the fastest-growing segment of the population and account for the majority of cardiovascular disease (CVD) morbidity, mortality, and health care expenditures. Additionally, the influence of dietary habits on risk may be less pronounced in elderly persons, when atherosclerosis is more advanced. However, few data address the influence of diet on CVD risk in ...

Antimicrobial, antioxidant and phyto-chemicals from fruit and vegetable wastes: A review
Food processing industry including fruit and vegetable processing is the second largest generator of wastes into the environment only after the household sewage. The generation of biodegradable waste increased linearly with the growth and development of food processing industry. A huge amount of waste in the form of liquid and solid is produced in the fruit and vegetable processing industries i...
متن کاملMonoterpenes Released from Fruit, Plant, and Vegetable Systems
To quantify the emission rate of monoterpenes (MTs) from diverse natural sources, the sorbent tube (ST)-thermal desorption (TD) method was employed to conduct the collection and subsequent detection of MTs by gas chromatography. The calibration of MTs, when made by both mass spectrometric (MS) and flame ionization detector (FID), consistently exhibited high coefficient of determination values (...
متن کاملEffects of Cereal, Fruit and Vegetable Fibers on Human Fecal Weight and Transit Time: A Comprehensive Review of Intervention Trials.
Cereal fibers are known to increase fecal weight and speed transit time, but far less data are available on the effects of fruits and vegetable fibers on regularity. This study provides a comprehensive review of the impact of these three fiber sources on regularity in healthy humans. We identified English-language intervention studies on dietary fibers and regularity and performed weighted line...
